Ručna bomba M2, CS je pirotehničko sredstvo namenjeno za privremeno onesposobljavanje nezaštićenog ljudstva na otvorenom i zatvorenom prostoru, za izvršavanje složenih zadataka vojske i policije u borbi protiv ubačenih terorističkodiverzanskih grupa, u pretresu prostora i objekata, u okruživanju i blokiranju, pri dejstvu iz zasede, radi suzbijanja masovnih nereda, otpora i pobune i svim klasičnim oblicima borbrnih dejstava. Prilikom upotrebe u zatvorenim prostorijama ne uzrokuje opasnost od izbijanja požara.
RB-M2 spada u sredstva za stvaranje otrovno – dimnog talasa. Telo bombe je od aluminijuma, cilindričnog oblika. Pri dejstvu na cilj stvara kontaminiranu atmosferu izazivajući privremeno onesposobljavanje nezaštićenog ljudstva. Kod nezaštićenog ljudstva se javlja jak nadražaj, peckanje očiju i sluzokože, jako suzenje, nemogućnost gledanja, kašalj, otežano disanje i gušenje čime se kod izlođenog ljudstva bitno umanjuju fizičke i psihičke aktivnosti.
Izvlačenjem prstena osigurača oslobađa se mehanički upaljač, koji aktivira usporač nakon bacanja. Posle usporenja od 2,5 do 3,5 sekundi, aktivira se smeša i u toku sledećih 20 do 30 sekundi razvija se intezivno beli gusti dim.
